Milan Skriniar is a ‘symbol’ of Inter’s charge towards the Serie A title, a leading Italian broadcaster has argued.

The Nerazzurri have opened up a four-point lead at the top of the table and boast the league’s most prolific attack, scoring three times against both Lazio and AC Milan.

But Sky Sport Italia argued Inter’s defensive improvements, which have seen Antonio Conte’s side concede just once in their last six league matches, are equally important in their upturn in form.

Skriniar is one of the players to have considerably raised his level of performances and has returned to being an untouchable part of Conte’s defensive wall.

The 26-year-old fell out of favour towards the end of last season, starting just seven of Inter’s 18 matches in all competitions after football resumed post-lockown.

He has since adapted to Conte’s three-man defence though and has started 25 of the Nerazzurri’s 33 matches during the current campaign.

Skriniar is scoring goals, defending with grit and blocking opposition players with his usual brilliance again, all of which have helped him regain his spot in the Inter back three.

Sky suggested the Slovak was living proof of the confidence Inter’s players have gained from their results, which have propelled them to the top of the table.
