Inter are one of many Serie A clubs to be wronged by officials during this season’s Champions League, according to an Italian media report today.

As per Corriere dello Sport’s print edition, Italian teams have not had much luck with referees in Europe, with Lazio and Atalanta both penalised against Bayern Munich and Real Madrid this week.

Inter were also left ruing questionable decisions after Antonio Conte’s side were surprisingly eliminated from the competition at the group stage before Christmas.

The Rome-based paper referenced two incidents in particular, when the Nerazzurri were denied a penalty on Romelu Lukaku away to Shakhtar Donetsk and when Real Madrid’s first goal in their 3-2 win was allowed despite a foul on Achraf Hakimi.

Reporting the news for their own readers, FcInterNews.it highlighted three more incidents where Inter might have been worthy of better officiating.

Borussia Monchengladbach’s second goal during their 2-2 draw at San Siro was never checked properly by VAR, they recalled, before Inter were potentially denied a penalty in the defeat at home to Real Madrid, before Arturo Vidal was sent off for excessive protesting.

Conte’s side should also have had another spot-kick against Los Blancos on matchday 4, they claimed, when Roberto Gagliardini was felled in the visitors’ box.
