Inter are picking up points at a faster rate than all but two of Europe’s elite sides, according to a report in the Italian media today.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition, only Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City have a better points-per-game average across Europe’s top five leagues than Antonio Conte’s side this season.

Inter are on course to finish Serie A with more than 88 points, with Atleti projected for 91, and they are also creating more chances on average than both of those teams.

The Nerazzurri are producing 11.8 per game in the league, compared to 10.6 for City and 9.4 for Simeone’s side.

Conte’s style of play was described in the report as a mix of ‘Cholismo’ and ‘Guardiolismo’, with the skill sets of Inter’s players meaning he was leaning slightly more towards Guardiola of the two.

Gazzetta argued he took greater care with the defensive side of the game than Pep did, before saying it was perhaps fairer to say that Conte was more ‘attentive’ in terms of his team played when out of possession.
