Inter can take another stride towards the Serie A title by beating Parma tonight, according to a leading Italian journalist.
Antonio Conte’s side are hoping to extend their gap over AC Milan in second to six points, following the Rossoneri’s draw at home to Udinese yesterday.
In a column for today’s print edition of La Repubblica, Paolo Condo explained why victory at the Stadio Ennio Tardini would make life so much easier for the Nerazzurri going forward.
“Inter wouldn’t be home and dry if they went six points clear of AC Milan, not least because they host Atalanta on Monday,” Condo argued.
“That match will be a clash between two top teams, which is only hidden slightly by the points Gian Piero Gasperini’s side have dropped along the way this season.
“But this is exactly why building a lead in the table is helpful, because it enables you to play the difficult matches without obligations to win them which can give you stress.
“Inter go to Parma tonight with the aim of securing another little piece of the Scudetto, and the three points should not be inaccessible to them.”
Condo also argued Inter had hit top form in Serie A thanks to Conte’s ability to integrate two more players into his starting XI.
“Inter have changed gear since Conte slotted Christian Eriksen and Ivan Perisic, and perhaps Alexis Sanchez as well, into the side,” he added.
Sanchez will start alongside Romelu Lukaku in attack at Parma, with Conte telling reporters in yesterday’s press conference that the Chilean was in his best physical condition since joining Inter.
Achraf Hakimi also comes back into the Nerazzurri XI, having missed Sunday’s win over Genoa due to suspension.
