Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum has revealed that there is currently no news to share as far as his footballing future is concerned.

The Dutchman’s contract with the reigning Premier League champions is due to expire at the end of this season and reports have linked him with Inter and Barcelona among others.

One report has however claimed that the former Newcastle United players wage demands scuppered Inter’s move for him.

“You want to hear what’s going to happen but on the other side, for me, if there’s nothing to say and no news I cannot say something,” Wijnaldum told broadcaster beIN Sports.

“I hope they [the Liverpool fans] can understand that and I hope they will stay patient until there’s news.

“The most important thing right now is that we fix things in the game as a team and we get results.

“Talking about an individual, in this case about me and my contract situation because I just said there’s no news, I think we can focus on better things than on my situation.”

He concluded: “When there is news, we will bring it out.”

The 30-year-old has been with Liverpool since the summer of 2016 and he played a key role in both their recent Premier League win and their UEFA Champions League win in previous seasons.

The ex-Feyenoord player has made 38 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored three goals.

Wijnaldum. who has played 70 times for the Netherlands, has also been linked with a potential switch to reigning French champion Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks.
