Inter today received the backing of yet another high-profile figure in Italian football to win this season’s Serie A title.

The Nerazzurri currently sit six points clear of second-placed AC Milan with 12 games to go, making them most people’s favourites for the Scudetto.

Fiorentina’s former head coach Beppe Iachini has become the latest coach to back Antonio Conte’s side to go all the way.

Speaking to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb today, Iachini said: “Inter have two years of work behind them.

“Antonio knows the team well and vice-versa.

“They have become a compact team.

“AC Milan are doing great things and are surprising everyone, but Inter are favourites due to the path they have taken.”

In addition to having a six-point advantage over AC Milan, Inter also hold the head-to-head advantage over their Rossoneri rivals.

The Nerazzurri can also boast a 10-point advantage over arch rivals Juventus who sit in third, although the Bianconeri have a game in hand against Napoli next week.

Conte’s side will look to tighten their grip on the title race when they visit Torino on Sunday, although they will be without Arturo Vidal for sure.

Vidal is to undergo knee surgery tomorrow, as confirmed by the club earlier, and could be out for up to a month.
