Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanovic has proven he is still good enough to play for a team fighting for the Serie A title, according to an Italian broadcaster’s report this evening.

As per Sport Mediaset, the veteran Slovenian goalkeeper and current club captain is determined to pick up his first piece of silverware this season, something he has pursued without success for the Nerazzurri for a long time.

Inter are six points clear at the top of the Serie A standings with 12 games to play and after some difficulties early on in the season, Handanovic has been performing well lately, especially in the win over Atalanta on Monday.

The 36-year-old has rebuffed his critics with the same force he uses to parry out shots from opposition players, the report poetically suggested.

Handanovic, who joined Inter way back in the summer of 2012, has made 36 appearances across all competitions so far this season, in which he has kept 13 clean sheets.

Inter are reportedly considering retaining him as their number one keeper for next season, despite interest for Udinese’s Juan Musso and Atalanta’s Pierluigi Gollini.
