Inter have knocked back a first offer from Sporting CP to sign Joao Mario on a permanent basis, according to a Portuguese media report.

As per A Bola, the Liga NOS leaders intend to sign the midfielder on a permanent basis from Inter with him having impressed while back on loan with them.

Sporting CP made an offer of €7 million plus add-ons for the 28-year-old, who has very seldom performed to expectations since joining Inter for big money back in the summer of 2016.

Inter rejected the above offer but have left the door open for Sporting CP to come back in with an improved offer.

It now remains to be seen whether the Estádio José Alvalade team do make a better offer for Joao Mario, who seemingly has the desire to re-join his first club permanently.

This season Joao Mario has made 24 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored two goals and provided as many assists for his teammates.

A Bola’s story has since been contradicted by a report from FcInter1908.it today, which said Inter had not received any kind of offer from Sporting CP yet.
