The wife of Inter full-back Danilo D’Ambrosio has sought to reassure fans of the Italian international’s wellbeing following his COVID-19 diagnosis last week.

D’Ambrosio tested positive for the coronavirus on Tuesday, before teammates Samir Handanovic, Stefan De Vrij and Matias Vecino also contracted the virus, leading to Inter’s Serie A match against Sassuolo yesterday to be postponed.

Taking to social media to post in an Instagram Story, D’Ambrosio’s wife Enza De Cristofaro declared that the defender was confined to self-isolation at home but was recovering well, as he rested and fought against the virus, as reported by FCInter1908.it.

Meanwhile, De Cristofaro also reassured fans that the rest of the family had all tested negative, including their children and her own mother and brother.

Former Torino full-back D’Ambrosio has made 19 appearances in all competitions for Inter this season, scoring three goals. The 32-year-old recently made his comeback from a knee injury suffered at the start of January, before contracting COVID-19.
