Federico Dimarco remains Inter’s preferred choice to reinforce their left wing-back spot this summer, according to a report in the Italian media.
As per Calciomercato.com last night, the Nerazzurri are almost certain to release Aleksandar Kolarov and Ashley Young when their contracts expire at the end of the season and they will need to source replacements.
In terms of replacing Young, Dimarco is thought to be the profile which is most tempting to club directors Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio, having impressed on loan at Hellas Verona this year.
The Gialloblu are expected to exercise their option to purchase the 23-year-old permanently in the summer, but the clubs’ good relations should ensure they leave Inter the chance to re-sign Dimarco if they want.
Dimarco has established himself as one of Italian football’s brightest prospects in the last two years, having made 27 appearances in all competitions for Hellas Verona this season.
He has scored four goals and provided five assists for Ivan Juric’s side during the 2020-21 campaign, most recently scoring in their 3-2 defeat at Sassuolo on March 13.
