Inter Players Released For International Duty After Testing Negative For COVID-19 Today, Italian Media Claim

Inter’s non-Italian players have been freed to join their national teams after returning negative COVID-19 tests today, according to a report in the Italian media.

The Nerazzurri confirmed this afternoon that there were no new positive cases in the first-team squad, although a member of their ‘team group’ (not a player) did test positive today.

As per FcInter1908.it, Milan’s local health authority (ATS) has subsequently given Inter’s players the green light to travel, despite having imposed a 14-day quarantine on the squad last week.

Romelu Lukaku, Christian Eriksen, Andrei Radu, Achraf Hakimi, Marcelo Brozovic, Ivan Perisic and Milan Skriniar are therefore heading home for the next fortnight as usual.

Milan’s ATS have released the Inter players on the condition that they organise private travel and only take part in training sessions, meaning they cannot play in their countries’ matches.

However, FCIN1908 added that it was inevitable that the various federations would put pressure on their own local health authority to overrule the ATS guidelines and ensure the players were available for games as well.

Inter’s three players called up to the Italy squad – Stefano Sensi, Nicolo Barella and Alessandro Bastoni – remain at Appiano Gentile for now and further updates on their situation is expected soon.

Antonio Conte resumed training today after Inter’s four-day suspension of footballing activities ended last night, overseeing a muscular session this morning with a full session planned for this afternoon.

Inter’s four players with the virus – Danilo D’Ambrosio, Samir Handanovic, Stefan de Vrij and Matias Vecino – remain in quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19 last week.
