Inter have received the backing of one of the club’s most famous supporters in their bid to win the Serie A title.

Antonio Conte’s are heavy favourites to win the Scudetto this season, boasting a six-point lead over AC Milan (and a game in hand) with 11 matches left.

MotoGP legend Valentino Rossi discussed his beloved Nerazzurri’s chances of securing the title in an interview with La Repubblica on Sunday.

“We can do it this year,” the nine-time world champion said.

“I like Conte, even though us Interisti are suffering for his past at Juventus.

“He’s a real coach, he doesn’t take anything for granted and everybody follows him.

“Conte is a tough man, he’s Inter’s version of (Italy’s new Prime Minister) Mario Draghi.”

Inter’s next match will be at Bologna on April 3 after club football resumes following this week’s international break.

Conte will be hoping to have everybody fit and available for the game at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, with four of his players currently positive for COVID-19 (Danilo D’Ambrosio, Samir Handanovic, Stefan de Vrij and Matias Vecino).

The club confirmed on Monday that there were no further positive cases among their first-team squad, although a member of Inter’s ‘team group’ (not a player) did return a positive test.
