Romelu Lukaku has congratulated his fellow countryman Dries Mertens after the Napoli forward reached an important career milestone last weekend.

Mertens became Belgium’s first player to score 100 goals in Serie A after grabbing a double in Sunday’s 2-0 win against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico.

The 33-year-old teased Lukaku on Monday after beating the Inter striker to the record, but Big Rom took the joke in good spirits and lauded Mertens with a tweet in response.

Lukaku said: “Congrats brother, well deserved.”
