Former Inter striker Jurgen Klinsmann believes the Nerazzurri will seal the Scudetto this season and that the Serie A title race has long been over.
Antonio Conte’s side sit six points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand over AC Milan, and are on course to win the title for the first time since 2010, whilst ending Juventus’ nine-year streak.
“Are you really asking me if the Nerazzurri will win the Scudetto? Isn’t it clear already?” the ex-Germany international questioned in an interview published in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“Here in the USA I do commentary for ESPN and I never see Inter lose a match.”
Klinsmann is often joined by Juventus icon Alessandro Del Piero and revealed that he teased the Italian World Cup winner, whilst also predicting that Inter’s elimination from the Champions League in December would see them go on to win the Serie A title.
“We joke constantly with Del Piero, I even warned him in December. The day after the elimination from the Champions League I said to Ale, ‘Forget the league, it’s ours'”, Klinsmann continued.
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker joined Inter from Stuttgart in 1989 and went on to score 40 goals in 123 appearances for the Nerazzurri, before moving on to Monaco in 1992.
Klinsmann helped Inter to the Supercoppa Italiana in 1989 and the UEFA Cup in 1991, as they overcame Roma in the final.
