After seeing four players test positive for COVID-19 earlier this month, Inter are only expecting goalkeeper Samir Handanovic to recover in time to face Bologna after the international break.

Handanovic tested positive on 17 March, whilst Danilo D’Ambrosio, Stefan De Vrij and Matias Vecino also contracted the coronavirus in the same week, prompting Inter’s Serie A match against Sassuolo last weekend to be postponed.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the quartet are all well and showing little if any symptoms, but will be unable to return to group training until 14 days after first testing positive.

Coach Antonio Conte is set to gather his squad for a resumption of training this week ahead of the away league match against Bologna on 3 April, and D’Ambrosio will be the first of the infected players able to return to training on 30 March.

Handanovic could return the following day, whilst De Vrij and Vecino would not be able to rejoin group training until 1 April, leaving Conte with only days to work with the four before the match.

With such little time amongst the squad and after almost two weeks of minimal fitness work, Conte is thought to be unlikely to risk any of his outfield players and will only call upon Handanovic against Bologna.
