Christian Eriksen was beaming after his return to international duty on Thursday as Denmark got their FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign off to a winning start.

The Inter midfielder played the full 90 minutes as Kasper Hjulmand’s side secured a 2-0 win in Israel, putting them on the path to Qatar 2022.

Eriksen said earlier this week that he was ‘incredibly happy’ to get permission to join up with Denmark’s squad, after initially being denied due to Inter’s COVID-19 outbreak.

The 29-year-old was still in high spirits after Thursday’s opener, posting on Instagram: “Important first win!”
