Inter are looking to reinforce their attacking options ahead of next season and have turned their attention to Atalanta striker Luis Muriel.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Nerazzurri coach Antonio Conte is keen to provide an alternative to Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez, with Muriel considered the ideal candidate to fit the role.

The Colombian has been targeted for his ability to fill the position of Martinez as a foil to a more physical striker, having performed similar duties alongside compatriot Duvan Zapata at Atalanta.

Meanwhile, Muriel has also showcased his ability at leading the line and being at the forefront of the attack, as Lukaku does for Inter.

Crucially, however, Muriel’s creativity in front of goal and ability to unlock tight defences is identified as a skill that is currently lacking amongst Inter’s attacking options. The former Fiorentina man would give Conte a different approach up front and has been targeted for his instinctiveness in attack.

Muriel has scored 16 Serie A goals this season as Atalanta challenge for qualification for the Champions League.
