As they hunt for a new striker this summer, Chelsea are ready to turn to Inter star Romelu Lukaku if they are unable to complete a deal for Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of The Telegraph, the Premier League club are in the market for a new attacker to replace out-of-contract Olivier Giroud, whilst Timo Werner has underwhelmed in his debut season at Stamford Bridge.
This has led to coach Thomas Tuchel pushing for a move for Norway international Haaland, but if a deal cannot be struck then Chelsea will focus on attempting to bring Lukaku back to the club.
The 27-year-old signed for Chelsea from Anderlecht in 2011 but only made 15 appearances for the club, with loan spells at West Bromwich Albion and Everton leading to a permanent move to the latter.
Haaland remains the Blues’ first choice however and all efforts will be made to strike a deal with Dortmund, but Belgian international Lukaku remains an option.
