Inter are optimistic that they will be able to meet outstanding fees before the end of the month and avoid any punishment from UEFA, as part of a three-part plan for the coming days.
As reported by Italian television channel Sky Sport Italia today, the Nerazzurri had looked to defer payments to the end of this month, including an instalment of the transfer fee owed to Real Madrid upon signing Achraf Hakimi last summer.
UEFA regulations mean that clubs who continue to owe fees to other teams beyond the end of March face the prospect of sanctions, including not being granted a license to compete in European competition, but Inter are confident that payments will be made.
Following this, the Nerazzurri hope to be able to welcome four players who tested positive for COVID-19 back to training this week. Danilo D’Ambrosio, Stefan De Vrij and Matias Vecino have all completed the mandatory quarantine period but are waiting for a negative result, whilst Samir Handanovic has now been cleared to return.
Finally, Inter are set to launch their new club crest on Tuesday as part of a rebranding, and work has already begun to update the club’s headquarters, with the old badge already removed from Viale della Liberazione.
