Spanish radio station RAC1 (via FcInter1908.it) claimed today that El Toro was Barca’s first alternative in attack should they fail to secure a deal for Borussia Dortmund sensation Erling Haaland.
Haaland is the dream signing for all Europe’s top clubs this summer, but Lautaro remained a valid option for Ronald Koeman’s side.
Barcelona are hoping Inter’s ongoing financial problems will persuade the Nerazzurri to sacrifice one of their most prized assets.
If Inter were to put Lautaro up for sale then the La Liga giants would be in pole position, according to this report.
Barca followed the 23-year-old at length during last summer’s transfer window, but their own financial troubles prevented them from ever making Inter a respectable offer.
The striker is reportedly close to signing a contract extension with Inter in any case, a development which would surely complicate any attempt from Barca to get a deal done.
