Inter are trying to convince Real Betis defender Aissa Mandi to leave Spain and join the Nerazzurri, according to a report in the Spanish media.

El Desmarque said the Algeria international was on the verge of signing a new deal with the La Liga side, who had offered an annual salary worth €2.5-3 million before tax.

However, Inter have complicated matters for Real Betis by jumping onto the scene and offering Mandi €2.5-3 million after tax, therefore guaranteeing the 29-year-old more money.

Mandi is tempted by the Nerazzurri’s proposal and is said to be evaluating his options again.

Real Betis remain in pole position to secure a deal with the centre-back, the report claimed, with Mandi expected to give a final answer in April.

Inter’s interest in Mandi was confirmed by a report in Tuttosport today, which identified him as one of three defenders the club were considering signing on a free transfer.
