After securing a ninth consecutive Serie A win with a 1-0 victory over Bologna yesterday, the Scudetto is now in Inter’s hands and is theirs to lose, Italian media suggest.

Romelu Lukaku bundled in at the second attempt on the half-hour mark to score the only goal as Inter sealed the win at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara, taking advantage of draws for AC Milan and Juventus to open up an eight-point lead at the top.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Inter have not won the title yet but victory in their game in hand against Sassuolo on Wednesday would make it theirs to lose, with an 11-point gap to claw back in just nine remaining matches.

Antonio Conte’s side were praised for their ability to put disciplined and well-structured teams like Bologna to the sword as they continue their surge to the title.

Meanwhile, the nine consecutive victories since the midway point of the season has only been achieved by Arrigo Sacchi’s Milan of 1989-90, who went on to earn 10 wins, and Juventus under Massimiliano Allegri in 2017-18. In both cases, they would go on to win the title.
