Inter continued their surge towards the Scudetto with a 1-0 win over Bologna last night in a match settled by a landmark goal from Romelu Lukaku.

The Belgium international hit the only goal of the game as he tapped home in the first half, netting his 20th Serie A goal of the season as Inter opened up an eight point gap at the top of the table with a game in hand.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku has now reached that milestone for the second successive season, joining an elite club of just six other players who achieved such a feat for Inter.

The former Manchester United striker joins such illustrious names from Inter’s past as Giuseppe Meazza, Amadeo Amadei, Istvan Nyers and Roberto Boninsegna, as well as more recently, Christian Vieri and Mauro Icardi.

Meanwhile, Inter also earned praise for picking up where they left off last time against Torino, almost three weeks ago, to secure a ninth consecutive win.

The Nerazzurri’s form has not suffered despite lengthy interruptions due to the international break and, prior to that, a postponed match against Sassuolo caused by a COVID-19 outbreak.
