Italian journalist Maurizio Pistocchi took to social media to highlight Inter’s stunning form in Serie A this season, whilst also alluding to the calls for coach Antonio Conte to be sacked before Christmas.
The Nerazzurri secured a ninth consecutive win in the league as they overturned Bologna 1-0 at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara last night, opening up an eight point gap with a game in hand.
Conte’s side have shown incredible consistency since the turn of the year to overtake previous leaders AC Milan and appear on course for a first Scudetto since 2010, a marked change since elimination from the Champions League in December had led to calls for the coach to be dismissed.
Using Twitter, journalist Pistocchi highlighted Inter’s domestic dominance over the last 15 rounds of fixtures, including a postponed game against Sassuolo, and showed how the Nerazzurri had amassed more points than anyone else in the league in that time.
In just 14 matches, Inter had picked up 38 points compared to the 36 from 15 by Atalanta, whilst Juventus had six points less.
“In the last 15 rounds Inter have collected 38 points in 14 games, Atalanta 36, Napoli and Juventus 32, Lazio 31. Who knows what the maestros who were pushing for Conte to be sacked at Christmas will say now,” Pistocchi tweeted.
