Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic has come under fire from sections of the Italian media after picking up a late booking against Bologna yesterday, leaving him with a suspension.

The Croatia international played the full 90 minutes at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara as Antonio Conte’s side secured a 1-0 win, courtesy of a Romelu Lukaku goal, to move eight points clear at the top of the table.

However, Brozovic was shown a yellow card with less than five minutes remaining and will now be forced to miss Wednesday’s clash against Sassuolo, drawing criticism in the press, as reported by PassioneInter.com.

As published in today’s newspaper edition, La Gazzetta dello Sport gave Brozovic a 6 for his performance and felt he showed the most awareness in midfield, whilst Corriere dello Sport echoed those sentiments in their own ratings published in their newspaper.

Both suggested that the 28-year-old’s rating had been reduced by the booking however, and Tuttosport only gave him a 5.5 in their newspaper edition.

Passione Inter themselves rated Brozovic’s performance at 5 and felt that he had struggled to contain Roberto Soriano and was ineffective in the build up, whilst his late challenge to pick up the booking was criticised as being naive.
