Alessio Cragno will not get the chance to impress his potential future employers Inter on Sunday.

Cagliari confirmed today that the goalkeeper had tested positive for COVID-19, ruling him out of their upcoming trip to San Siro.

Cragno took his test yesterday and is now quarantining at home after returning from his duties with the Italian national team.

Cagliari’s first-team squad has been placed in fiduciary isolation – just like Inter after their COVID-19 outbreak last month – and will be subject to orders and guidance from their local health authority.

Cragno is reportedly one of five goalkeepers Inter are considering as a long-term replacement for Samir Handanovic in goal, as per a report in Italy today.

The 26-year-old is thought to be second on the Nerazzurri’s list of preferences, behind Udinese’s Juan Musso and ahead of Atalanta’s Pierluigi Gollini, Napoli’s Alex Meret and Hellas Verona’s Marco Silvestri.

Cragno produced an exceptional performance for Cagliari during the reverse fixture in December, pulling out a number of impressive saves at the Sardegna Arena before Inter went on to win 3-1.
