Inter could be about to have one of their summer transfer targets spoiled by an old foe, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta.it confirmed that Luis Muriel was likely to receive widespread interest in his services at the end of the season, following another excellent season at Atalanta.

The Colombian forward is scoring at a rate of one goal every 57 minutes during the current campaign, with Inter linked with a move in other reports lately.

However, Atalanta boss Gian Piero Gasperini is reportedly ready to do whatever he can to ensure Muriel stays at the club for next season.

Muriel has scored 22 goals in 38 appearances for the Bergamaschi this season, as well as providing nine assists for his teammates.

He scored another two goals for Gasperini’s side on Saturday as Atalanta strengthened their chances of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League with a 3-2 win at home to Udinese.
