Inter are serious about making a move for AZ Alkmaars captain Teun Koopmeiners, according to a report in the Italian media.

Calciomercato.com said the Nerazzurri and Roma were both keen on the midfielder, who has scored 17 goals in 37 appearances for the Eredivisie side this season.

Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio believe Koopmeiners would be a perfect midfielder for Antonio Conte, considering the Inter boss’s style of play.

However, in order to move for the 23-year-old they must first sell players, specifically Matias Vecino and Arturo Vidal.

Even with the money guaranteed from qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League, the report warned, Inter will be obliged to sell this summer before they can buy anyone else.

Roma could also be a tough opponent to overcome, with the Giallorossi having already intensified their contacts with Koopmeiners’ agent in recent weeks.

Koopmeiners did not enjoy his most successful weekend of the season at Easter, picking up a red card after just five minutes as AZ Alkmaar won 1-0 at Willem II.
