Former Inter defender Giuseppe Bergomi believes the Nerazzurri have all but wrapped up the Serie A title, whilst suggesting that their game management had made the difference.

Antonio Conte’s side defeated Bologna 1-0 at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara on Saturday evening to open up an eight point gap at the top of Serie A with a game in hand, courtesy of a first half Romelu Lukaku goal.

Whilst appearing as a guest on Sky Calcio Club on Italian television channel Sky Sport Italia yesterday, the former Inter defender praised Conte for his work since arriving in 2019, as well as the impact of key players such as Lukaku.

“Conte has been able to put his imprint on the team since the first season. This year he changed something and retraced his steps a little,” Bergomi claimed.

“He has decisive players who allowed him to make the leap in quality, above all Romelu Lukaku. The strike partnership is important.”

Bergomi went on to claim that the chasing pack were almost out of sight and had to look over their own shoulders rather than focus on Inter, whilst revealing why the Nerazzurri had enjoyed such a good campaign in comparison to Juventus.

“From tonight whoever is behind Inter must look back, from tonight something has changed. Juventus are showing flashes but are not solid. They take the lead but then let the opponents fight back. The management that Inter have is lacking at Juventus this year.”

Bergomi spent his entire career at Inter and made 756 appearances for the club between 1979 and 1999, lifting the Serie A title and the UEFA Cup three times.
