Christian Eriksen will get another chance as a deep-lying play-maker when Inter host Sassuolo tomorrow, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said the Dane would replace the suspended Marcelo Brozovic in the centre of midfield (contrary to another report today, which said Nicolo Barella was favourite to start in that position).

Antonio Conte must revisit his starting XI against the Neroverdi with three first-choice players missing in Ivan Perisic (through injury), Brozovic and Alessandro Bastoni (also suspended).

Stefan de Vrij will replace Bastoni on the left-hand side of Inter’s back three while Andrea Ranocchia keeps his place in the centre.

Roberto Gagliardini should deputise for Brozovic to complete the midfield alongside Eriksen and Barella.

Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian are vying to start at left wing-back meanwhile, with the Englishman expected to get another chance after starting at Bologna on Saturday.

Inter’s probable starting XI vs Sassuolo (3-5-2): Samir Handanovic; Milan Skriniar, Andrea Ranocchia, Stefan de Vrij; Achraf Hakimi, Nicolo Barella, Christian Eriksen, Roberto Gagliardini, Ashley Young; Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez.
