Inter’s chances of swapping Joao Mario for Sevilla’s Papu Gomez appear to be zero, as explained by a report in the Italian media today.

Sevilla were reported earlier this week to be considering using Gomez, who only joined from Atalanta in January, to lower Inter’s eventual asking price for Joao Mario.

However, a source at the La Liga club has ‘totally denied’ the operation when contacted by FcInterNews.it, assuring that the rumours ‘are false and do not correspond to reality’.

Inter will therefore need to hope they can reach an agreement with Sporting CP, where Joao Mario is currently on loan, to make the 28-year-old’s loan move permanent.

A report in Portugal today suggested Sporting CP could use their 18-year-old left-back Nuno Mendes to reduce Inter’s demands for Joao Mario.

The midfielder has made 28 appearances in all competitions for Ruben Amorim’s side this season, scoring twice and providing two assists.
