Inter have yet to make a decision regarding the future of academy graduate Zinho Vanheusden, according to the defender’s father.

A report in Italy today said the Nerazzurri would re-sign the centre-back in the summer, with Antonio Conte set to evaluate whether to keep him at the club to complete his defensive options.

Vanheusden is due to return to Inter for around €17 million, as per an agreement reached with Standard Liege two years ago, but his father Johan insisted they were still in the dark about the 21-year-old’s future.

“He’d be happy to stay at Standard Liege,” Johan told Belgian news outlet Het Laatste Nieuws.

“It’s a matter that Inter and Standard Liege must decide though.

“We still don’t have an idea on his future, the most important thing is that Zinho can return to playing football.”

Vanheusden has been out of action at Standard Liege since November 1, when he suffered the second long-term injury of his career after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament.

The former Inter Primavera defender has finally received the green light from club doctors to begin training with his teammates in the next few weeks.

Vanheusden has never played for Inter’s first team but it is possible he will get a chance to do so under Conte next season.
