AC Milan are unlikely to pursue a move for Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio, although he may not be offered a new contract at the Nerazzurri.

With his existing deal set to expire at the end of the season, reports had suggested the Rossoneri were lining up a two-year contract, fuelled by a visit to their base by agent Vincenzo Pisacane.

However, as reported by FCInterNews.it, Milan have other priorities at right-back, including the returning Andrea Conti from a loan at Parma and discussions to sign Diogo Dalot from Manchester United permanently.

In addition, the Diavolo are keen to maintain Davide Calabria as their first choice and are looking to sign younger players for their first team, leaving a move for 32-year-old D’Ambrosio unlikely.

The former Torino man has the option of an additional year in his contract but Inter are yet to trigger this, despite positive talks recently.

Inter’s priority is to renew contracts for Stefan De Vrij, Nicolo Barella, Lautaro Martinez and Alessandro Bastoni, whilst they are remaining cautious not to commit to triggering the €2 million extension in D’Ambrosio’s contract until the financial situation is clearer.

Whilst the full-back will not automatically be released with no hope of a new deal, as with Aleksandar Kolarov and Ashley Young, his future is far from certain.
