Inter are considering an approach for Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret, with the Italian international keen to leave the Partenopei.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, the 24-year-old has become disillusioned with being second choice behind David Ospina and has asked agent Federico Pastorello to seek an alternative for him.

Pastorello has a close working relationship with Inter and helped bring coach Antonio Conte to the club, whilst also representing Romelu Lukaku, Joao Mario and former Nerazzurri wingers Antonio Candreva and Keita Balde.

Inter are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper as they plan for life after Samir Handanovic, with the Slovenia international set to turn 37 in July, and Meret is amongst the names drawn up by directors Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio.

The preferred choice remains Udinese’s Juan Musso, whilst Pierluigi Gollini and Alessio Cragno, of Atalanta and Cagliari respectively, are being considered, as Inter seek a goalkeeper to back Handanovic up next season before taking over the following year.

Napoli are keen to retain Meret however and have little intention of letting him go, but the former Udinese man is unhappy with his limited opportunities in the first team.
