As Inter take on Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in Serie A this evening, the midfield challenge will see the Nerazzurri’s Christian Eriksen come up against opposite number Fabian Ruiz.
As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the pair had endured a difficult first half of the season only to hit form after Christmas and become key protagonists in their respective teams.
Eriksen joined Inter from Tottenham Hotspur in January 2020 but suffered an underwhelming first 12 months in Italy, but has become an important player in coach Antonio Conte’s team since the turn of the year and helped propel the Nerazzurri to top spot in Serie A.
Meanwhile, Spaniard Ruiz starred for Napoli last season but struggled this term, only to rediscover his form in January after forging a strong midfield partnership with Diego Demme.
The clash in midfield could be a determining factor in the result, with Ruiz looking to break from deep whilst Eriksen seeks to release strikers Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez.
