Inter were fortunate to see a Hellas Verona goal ruled out during their 1-0 win at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza this afternoon, according to Italian journalist Enrico Mentana.

A Matteo Darmian goal in the second half settled a tight match and moved Inter to within six points of the Scudetto, as they sit 13 points clear of AC Milan at the top of the Serie A table.

However, the Nerazzurri looked to have conceded an equaliser after Davide Faraoni found the back of the net, only for the goal to be disallowed due to an apparent push on goalkeeper Samir Handanovic.

Appearing on Italian television station TG La 7 earlier today, Inter fan and journalist Mentana spoke of his joy at seeing the Nerazzurri move closer to the title, whilst being highly critical of the refereeing decision.

“I’m happy that Inter are now one step away from the Scudetto. But today I saw a a fine goal ruled out for Verona. This is not acceptable with VAR,” he declared.

The win saw Inter earn a first victory in three games after consecutive 1-1 draws against Napoli and Spezia respectively, whilst condemning Verona to a fourth straight Serie A defeat.
