Antonio Conte’s future at Inter is more certain now than it was four days ago, according to a report in the Italian media.

Corriere della Sera’s print edition said Conte’s comments after Inter’s 1-1 draw at Spezia on Wednesday (in which he asked for ‘clarity’ at the end of the season) had seemingly left the door open to a departure at the end of the season.

However, he spoke again following yesterday’s 1-0 win at home to Hellas Verona and quashed all the speculation that he might be considering leaving the Nerazzurri.

Conte ‘dismantled’ the media’s interpretation of his comments after the Spezia game, the report argued, explaining: “I’d like to continue the work I started two years ago and perhaps finish it off.

“It’s hard work for a coach like me to keep starting again from zero.

“Having said that, we all need to work out what to do when the dust settles, in a very calm manner.”

Conte is awaiting Steven Zhang’s return from Milan, which should happen later this week, in order to hold talks with Inter’s president over the club’s future prospects.

Inter need just five points from their final five games to secure the Serie A title following yesterday’s victory at San Siro.
