Lautaro Martinez remains uncertain to stay at Inter for next season, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Tuttosport’s print edition warned that Inter’s financial situation could potentially force the club to sacrifice one of their key players in the summer.

Lautaro is close to signing a new three-year deal at Inter, which will see his annual salary increased to €4.5 million plus bonuses and his €111 million release clause removed.

However, El Toro is one of Inter’s most appealing assets on the transfer market and the club’s directors might have no option but to sacrifice him to balance their books.

Lautaro recently hired Achraf Hakimi’s agent Alejandro Camano and the Turin-based paper suggested this could always lead to a change of strategy regarding his future.

The ex-Racing Club striker is on the verge of a new deal thanks to the work of his previous agents Beto Yaque and Rolando Zarate, with whom he parted company last month.

Lautaro was heavily linked with a move to Barcelona last summer before the Catalans’ serious financial problems forced them to withdraw their interest.

The 23-year-old could be set for another summer of speculation, although another report today said Inter weren’t planning to sell any of their key players.
