Christian Eriksen’s future at Inter remains in doubt, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Corriere dello Sport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri needed to reduce the club’s wage bill before next season and would most likely have to sacrifice at least one key player.

Eriksen is the first name Inter could consider to secure a healthy capital gain, the report suggested, with the Dane’s salary set to increase if he stays next season.

Arturo Vidal is also due a pay rise in the summer (as is Romelu Lukaku) and the 33-year-old could also be offloaded – albeit probably by rescinding his contract – to get rid of his wages.

Inter are in advanced talks with Lautaro Martinez and Alessandro Bastoni over contract extensions while they could also give new deals to Nicolo Barella, Marcelo Brozovic (whose contract expires in 2022), Ivan Perisic and Matias Vecino.

Samir Handanovic was also promised a new contract until 2023 and it remains to be seen if Inter can proceed with that agreement.

Inter are expected to release Andrea Ranocchia, Aleksandar Kolarov, Ashley Young and Daniele Padelli at the end of the season, while Danilo D’Ambrosio could sign a new deal to stay at the club.

A separate report today claimed Inter were not planning to sell any of their key players in the summer.
