Zinho Vanheusden is no closer to knowing where he will be playing next season, according to the defender’s father.

Inter sold the Belgian international to Standard Liege for €12 million in 2019 and are expected to re-sign him for around €16 million at the end of this season.

However, reports are differing on whether the Nerazzurri will exercise their buy-back clause or if they will leave Vanheusden with Standard Liege, where he is captain, for another season.

“Zinho would happily stay with Standard Liege,” Vanheusden’s father Johan told Het Laatste Nieuws (via Voetbalkrant) earlier this week.

“This is something which has to be clarified between Inter and Standard Liege though.

“We don’t even have much information ourselves on the matter at the moment.”

Vanheusden ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament in November for the second time in his career, but he recently received the green light from Standard Liege’s medical staff to resume training soon.

Inter have three defenders who are out of contract at the end of this summer – Andrea Ranocchia, Aleksandar Kolarov and Danilo D’Ambrosio – so it is possible that Antonio Conte will want to evaluate the 21-year-old in person during pre-season.

Vanheusden has made 13 appearances for Standard Liege this season.
