Inter fans shouldn’t be waiting too much longer before Alessandro Bastoni signs a new contract, according to a report in the Italian media tonight.
As per Gazzetta dello Sport’s Francesco Fontana, the Nerazzurri intend to ‘accelerate’ talks over an improved deal for the defender once they have sorted their financial concerns.
Inter president Steven Zhang is thought to be on the verge of securing a loan deal with either Bain Capital or Oaktree Capital, which will cover the club’s costs until the summer.
Once their agreement is finalised, Inter can tie their coveted centre-back down to a new deal and ignore his various suitors around Europe.
Bastoni’s agent Tulio Tinti confirmed on Monday that he had already agreed a deal with Inter to extend the 21-year-old’s contract, which only needed finalising.
Inter’s directors Beppe Marotta and Piero Ausilio have also both assured there will be no problems regarding Bastoni’s new deal.
Bastoni has made 38 appearances for Inter this season – although he could be rested against Sampdoria on Saturday – and is currently under contract until 2023.
