Inter’s players will reject a proposal from Steven Zhang to give up two months’ wages, according to a report in the Italian media today.
Zhang is expected to begin talks with the squad today at Appiano Gentile, as Inter look to reduce costs ahead of next season.
Corriere della Sera’s print edition said Zhang would need to revert to Plan B, which involves agreeing modifications to each individual player’s contract.
Inter’s players are against cutting wages but they could accept to have their contracts adjusted, although the report did not specify how they would be modified.
The Nerazzurri’s squad already agreed earlier in the season to have several monthly payments deferred until now, due to Inter’s ongoing financial problems.
They are far from the only club to have trouble paying their players’ salaries though, as the Milan-based paper pointed out, because even Juventus have deferred four monthly installments during the past year.
