Inter’s players are anxious to hear if Antonio Conte will remain their head coach next season, according to a report in the Italian media today.
As per Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition, Nerazzurri president Steven Zhang will today begin individual discussions with each player and ask everyone to give up two months’ wages.
Inter want to reduce their working costs by 15% in a bid to stabilise their finances long-term, but their players want reassurance on certain issues if they are to agree wage cuts.
The squad wants to hear what Suning’s plans are for the team next season, and most importantly whether Conte will stay at the club beyond the summer.
Inter’s players would save the club €25 million if they agreed to give up the wage payments, which are for November and December 2020, giving Suning a boost in their bid to stabilise the club’s finances.
They are reportedly not impressed that the speculation has been leaked to the media, because they would have preferred to negotiate in silence and then communicate things at the end.
