Inter will find it very difficult to persuade their outgoing players to take wage cuts, as explained by a leading Italian broadcaster today.
As per Sky Sport Italia, the Nerazzurri have five players whose contracts expire in the summer and these are Aleksandar Kolarov, Danilo D’Ambrosio, Andrea Ranocchia, Daniele Padelli and Ashley Young.
The club have yet to hold talks with them and it will not be simple to ask them to give up two months’ wages, given they are due to leave the club on June 30.
The only way Inter could potentially gain concessions from those players is by offering some of them new deals to stay at the club.
Inter president Steven Zhang asked his players yesterday to make a financial sacrifice for the good of the club, who are battling serious financial problems.
However, it seems unlikely they will accept the proposal and that means Inter will need to find other means of balancing their books.
