Inter are set for a transfer battle with Roma over two key targets, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said Jose Mourinho had set his sights on Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum, who is available on a free transfer and remains an objective for Inter as well.

In addition to that, Roma are also following Federico Dimarco’s progress at Hellas Verona after being impressed by his performances this season.

Inter are hoping to recall Dimarco from his loan spell with the Gialloblu when the deal expires at the end of the season.

The Nerazzurri are expected to bring in the 23-year-old as a replacement for Ashley Young – as per a report yesterday – who is out of contract in the summer.

They were also linked again to Wijnaldum yesterday, with Inter likely to pursue free transfers due to the club’s economic problems.

It remains to be seen whether Roma can overtake Inter in the race to sign either player.
