Inter midfielder Arturo Vidal has dismissed speculation linking him with a summer move to Marseille.
Reports in Italy today suggested Inter were hoping to offload the Chilean international due to his high salary, along with Alexis Sanchez, Christian Eriksen and Ivan Perisic.
Marseille recently appointed Vidal’s former Chile boss Jorge Sampaoli as head coach, leading to reports the pair could be reunited in Ligue 1.
However, Vidal told TNT Sports Chile today (via FcInterNews.it): “I’m happy at Inter.
“I’ve won the Scudetto here and I can’t think of anything else at the moment.
“I’m focused on getting back to 100% fitness for Inter and for the national team, then I’ll speak to my agent on holiday and I’ll assess the options.
“I’m still happy here and I want to stay for at least another year, then I’ll choose where to go.”
Vidal remains on excellent terms with Sampaoli after they won the Copa America together, but it seems they will not be rejoining forces for next season.
“He’s one of the most important people I’ve met in football, he’s made me become a champion with my country and developed me as a player and as a person,” Vidal said of Sampaoli.
“He’s very direct and I appreciate this; coaches like Antonio Conte and Carlo Ancelotti have helped me, but it’s been great with Sampaoli.
“He respects where I am a lot and I am the same for him, it’s difficult to say if I’ll move to his team (Marseille).
“I have a lot of respect for Inter and I respect what he’s doing at Marseille.”
Vidal has not featured for Inter since undergoing knee surgery two months ago, completing a disappointing first season since his move from Barcelona.
Conte was desperate to be reunited with the former Juventus midfielder but Vidal has done very little so far to repay the faith shown in him, contributing two goals and two assists in 30 appearances.
