Shakhtar Donetsk’s interest in Stefano Sensi is not as strong as some have claimed, a report in the Italian media explained today.

Sensi’s former Sassuolo boss Roberto De Zerbi is set to be appointed as the Ukrainian side’s new head coach, leading to speculation he could seek a deal for the Inter midfielder.

As per FcInterNews.it, De Zerbi is certainly fond of Sensi but the 25-year-old is not currently on Shakhtar Donetsk’s transfer wish list.

The only way Shakhtar Donetsk could move for Sensi is if De Zerbi made an explicit request to sign him, a scenario described as ‘improbable’ for the time being.

Sensi turns 26 in August and earns €2 million annually after tax at Inter, while he is valued by the Nerazzurri at around €15 million.

Shakhtar Donetsk prefer to sign younger players and sell them on for a profit, and it would be difficult to pull off such a strategy with a player worth that much.

Sensi, who is also being linked with Fiorentina, has made 20 appearances in all competitions for Inter this season, playing the final 20 minutes of last Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Juventus.
