Inter are hoping to secure €5 million from Radja Nainggolan’s move to Cagliari, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition said Nainggolan would not return to the Nerazzurri after his six-month loan deal because he is out of the club’s plans.

Cagliari want to keep the midfielder and have opened talks with Inter about a permanent move, but there is no agreement in place for now.

Inter want €4-5 million to sell Nainggolan, with further negotiations expected to take place between the clubs next week.

Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini remains hopeful Inter will terminate Nainggolan’s contract, enabling the Belgian to join the Rossoblu without a transfer fee.

If Inter let Nainggolan leave for free, they would still save €4 million on his annual salary, as per the contract which ties him to the Nerazzurri until 2022.

Nainggolan has made 21 appearances for Cagliari since joining in January, helping Leonardo Semplici’s side secure survival with two games to spare.

Last night, Gianluca Di Marzio reported Cagliari had tabled a new bid for the 33-year-old worth around €5 million.
