Inter will have to wait until the New Year before getting another chance to win a trophy.
As per Gazzetta dello Sport’s print edition, the Nerazzurri will face Juventus in the Supercoppa Italiana after ending the Bianconeri’s nine-year run of Serie A titles.
The match will be played in Saudi Arabia, as confirmed by Serie A president Paolo Dal Pino, and it is likely to take place in January.
The Supercoppa Italiana was already played in Saudi Arabia in 2019, when Lazio beat Juventus 3-1 in Jeddah.
Inter and Juventus have only met once in the Supercoppa Italiana before, and on that occasion it was the Nerazzurri who emerged victorious.
The match finished 0-0 after 90 minutes back in 2005 before Juan Sebastian Veron scored in extra-time, securing a 1-0 victory for Roberto Mancini’s side.
Inter played Juventus four times this season and won just once, although that was a crucial 2-0 victory at San Siro which put them on course for the Serie A title.
