Chelsea are planning a summer move for Romelu Lukaku, according to a report in the UK.

The Guardian said Lukaku was ‘considering his future’ at Inter and would be subject to strong interest in the transfer window from his former Premier League club.

Inter will do all they can to keep Lukaku and will look to raise funds by selling Achraf Hakimi and Lautaro Martinez instead, the report claimed.

However, Chelsea have lots of money available and will ‘test the Nerazzurri’s resolve’ as they seek to build a title-winning squad for next season.

Lukaku could be a ‘feasible’ target for Chelsea due to Inter’s financial difficulties, with the newly-crowned Champions League winners unlikely to secure deals for Harry Kane or Erling Haaland.

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel wants to increase his options in attack after a difficult season in front of goal for Timo Werner, and Lukaku is ‘prominent in his thoughts’.

A report in Italy today said Inter’s new boss Simone Inzaghi had called Lukaku to reassure him about the Nerazzurri’s project for next season, a phone call Lukaku was said to have greatly appreciated.
